Leslie Ridlehoover Brown joined the Mississippi Office of Capital Post-Conviction Counsel in October of 2024. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1985. After obtaining her law degree from the University of Mississippi Law School she was admitted to the Mississippi Bar in 1988.
Leslie was employed as a law clerk by Patterson, Tolison and Alexander Law firm during law school as well as a Teaching Assistant for the Legal Research and Writing course attended by all first-year law students. The last semester of law school, Leslie was accepted as an intern by the Mississippi Supreme Court.
Following graduation from Ole Miss, Leslie accepted a clerkship for the Mississippi Supreme Court where she served as a Law Clerk to Chief Judge Harry Walker until his retirement. Leslie was also assigned to Justice Joseph Zuccaro when he joined the Court. Leslie worked under three different Chief Judges of the Mississippi Supreme Court.
Leslie has spent most of her years in practice as a criminal trial lawyer. Over the years, she has served as an Assistant District Attorney, an Assistant Public Defender and maintained a private practice devoted to the defense of indigent people charged with violent crimes.
Leslie is licensed to practice law in all Mississippi State Courts and the Northern and Southern Federal District Court of Mississippi.
